This brief for the assignment was to take a famous person, living or dead, from any time in history and design a type-based poster celebrating their life taking inspiration from the historical, cultural ethical and environmental context surrounding them.
I chose Frida Kahlo as the basis for this assignment mainly because the way she looks is original and easily recognisable and I find her appearance inspirational. She was before her time and a feminist. I used colours that reflected those used in her paintings and colours that reflect her Mexican heritage.
Frida was a prolific writer of diaries. I used text from one of her dairies including her signature against background images of colourful and textured mexian walls.
